Your guide to the printer not recognizing compatible cartridges!

It might be an issue if you have just purchased a printer but brother printer doesn't recognize ink cartridge. You can specifically try to reset the printer by pressing the power button 7 times as it will clear the error message.

Step 1- Reset the printer memory

If the brother printer not recognizing the new toner cartridge then you can follow these steps to reset the printer memory. It might help you with the problem:

• You should remove the new cartridge, replace it with the old one, and leave it for about 10 minutes.
• Once you come back after 10 minutes, remove the old cartridge and put the new one again.

Remove the new cartridge and place it in a clean and safe place where the cartridge or the surface won’t be dented. Turn the printer off from the power button.

•  Insert your new cartridge and press the power button on the printer

 

Step 2- Clean the metal contacts

The metal contacts can typically be seen on one side, the back of a toner cartridge or the back of an ink cartridge. They look like a flat piece of copper, metal, or like a circuit board. You should know that some ink cartridges have no contacts at all. The steps to clean it have been mentioned below for your reference:

• Switch off the power and unplug your printer
• Remove your toner or ink cartridge carefully and place to one side on a flat surface safely
• Check the cartridge for the metal contacts and see the inside of the printer for a connection point
•  Lightly wipe the contacts on both cartridges and the printer to remove any dirt with a dry cloth. Ensure that you don’t cause any damage.
• Replace the cartridges in the printer and turn on the printer
• See if you can print again or not

 

If the brother printer still doesn't recognize ink cartridge then you can check these additional things:

Ensure that all the protective covers and strips were removed from your new cartridge when it was installed. You usually get instructions in the box that will guide you in the best possible way

Make sure that you acquired the correct consumable.

• See if you purchased an ink or toner and not a new drum unit or any other maintenance item.
•  Update your printer software by going through the instructions manual on how to update the firmware.
